María José Pizarro Rodríguez, Second Vice President of the House of Representatives and Senator Iván Cepeda Castro, join the Grupo de Puebla this Thursday

With the arrival of Representative Pizarro and Senator Cepeda, the group reaches 44 political leaders in 14 countries.

María José Pizarro was elected House Representative by the “Lista de los Decentes” and she is part of the alternative group of Congress. She has been the Second Vice President of the House since july 2019. She is an activist for peace and historical memory. She plays an outstanding role in the legislative branch.

Iván Cepeda Castro is a politician, peace and human rights defender. He is a philosophy major. He was a member of the House of Representatives between 2010 and 2014. He is currently a Senator from the Polo Democrático Alternativo party. He is the official spokesperson for the State Crimes Victims Movement (MOVICE). In 2007 he was given the Roger Baldwin Medal of Liberty Award.

The Grupo de Puebla –promoted By President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández; former President of Colombia, Ernesto Samper; former Brazilian Minister, Aloizio Mercadante and the Chilean Marco Enríquez-Ominami– has members such as former presidents such as José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (Spain); Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Brazil); Dilma Rousseff (Brazil); José Mujica (Uruguay); Evo Morales (Bolivia); Rafael Correa (Ecuador); Fernando Lugo (Paraguay); Martín Torrijos (Panama) y Leonel Fernández (Dominican Republic).

The group currently has its members in Chile, Perú, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil. the Dominican Republic, Panama, Mexico, Spain, Ecuador and El Salvador.
